My family has ties to Camden County dating back to the late 1700s. In the early
1970s, my grandparents purchased 18 acres of Plum Orchard on Cumberland
Island. They built a four bedroom, wood framed house where my family enjoyed
many weekends of entertainment. My grandfather, Wilbur Readdick, was the
developer of Bristol Hammock, owned a timber cutting business as well as a saw
mill, and was a heavy equipment owner-operator.
My experience in the construction field began at the age of 5 when I followed my
grandfather and uncles to work. By the time I was 7, I was driving heavy
equipment. From the ages of 12 to 17, I worked in electrical and HVAC with my father. I was heavily involved in Camden County High School's construction program and Skills USA, where I won numerous awards at the state level. When it came time for college, it was clear what my program of study needed to be. I chose to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Management from Georgia Southern University. In school, I excelled in all of my classes while playing a vital role as Vice President of the Construction Management Guild. I also was an active student member of the National Association of Home Builders, (NAHB). Georgia Southern travels to the NAHB International Builder's Show every year to compete against students across the country and I was fortunate enough to travel with them twice.
After graduation from GSU, I spent three years as an Outside Plant Engineer and Construction Manager for TDS Telecom in Saint Marys. During my time at TDS, I founded Readdick Construction as a side job, buying and selling foreclosed properties while sparing no expense in restoring them. In fact, I can guarantee that each home that I have completed is of better quality than it was the day it was built. Remodeling homes helped me determine how passionate I am about constructing homes with the best quality so I decided to put my emphasis on new construction. Our local market has a growing demand for new construction again and I am now offering spec homes in several subdivisions.
I am currently building in six subdivisions and am confident that the homes we are building are a top quality product. Being hands on while using high-end finishes at an affordable price is a must. Using 2x6 exterior walls to ensure energy efficiency & a stronger structure as well as using dimensional lumber spaced on 16" centers is necessary for a home that is built to last. Other superior features that I believe in using are 1/2" radiant barrier roof sheathing in addition to hand driven shingles for the best possible application. All of these features are included in all of our projects, setting us apart from others. From start to completion, my experience in all aspects of building will result in a top-quality home built for a lifetime.
I value strong client relationships as well as those with my colleagues in the community. I currently serve on the local Habitat for Humanity Building Committee, am an active member of the Camden County Rotary Club, a member of the Camden County Chamber of Commerce, and Vice President of the Golden Isles Home Builders Association, Camden Chapter. In my free time I enjoy hunting and boating. I reside in Kingsland with my loving wife Nicole, our two cats Marilyn & Monroe and our dog Emma.
